Does DNSMentor support GoDaddy?
Yes. DNSMentor manages GoDaddy DNS through its API, showing its zones alongside the other 25 supported providers in a single estate view. Every GoDaddy change goes through the same 56 pre-flight checks, approval policy, independent verification and tamper-evident audit trail as every other provider.
Connecting GoDaddy
- Create the credential in GoDaddy developer.godaddy.com → sign in with the GoDaddy account that owns the domains → API Keys → Create New API Key, and choose the Production environment. An OTE (test) key is issued from the same page and looks identical, but is rejected by the production API. Note that GoDaddy only grants DNS API access to eligible accounts: from May 2024 the account needed ten or more domains or a Discount Domain Club Premier membership, and GoDaddy announced in April 2026 that one domain is now enough. An ineligible account gets a valid-looking key that returns 403 'Authenticated user is not allowed access' on every call.
- Add the connection in DNSMentor Go to Admin → Providers & API keys, choose GoDaddy, and paste the credential. DNSMentor stores it encrypted and strips it from every log and export.
- Sync the estate DNSMentor discovers every zone the GoDaddy account holds and imports every record in them. This is a read operation — nothing is written to any zone.
- Group by client and start working Assign the imported domains to client portfolios, and the estate view, health scoring, checks and audit trail apply from that point on.
What GoDaddy asks you for
The exact fields DNSMentor needs, and where in GoDaddy to create them. Every secret is encrypted at rest and stripped by name from logs, exports and the audit trail.
API Key secret developer.godaddy.com → sign in with the GoDaddy account that owns the domains → API Keys → Create New API Key, and choose the Production environment. An OTE (test) key is issued from the same page and looks identical, but is rejected by the production API. Note that GoDaddy only grants DNS API access to eligible accounts: from May 2024 the account needed ten or more domains or a Discount Domain Club Premier membership, and GoDaddy announced in April 2026 that one domain is now enough. An ineligible account gets a valid-looking key that returns 403 'Authenticated user is not allowed access' on every call.
API Secret secret Shown once, immediately below the key, at the moment the key is created. GoDaddy will not show it again — if it was not captured, delete the key and create another. The key and secret together are account-wide: they can transfer and delete domains, not just edit DNS, and GoDaddy offers no read-only or DNS-scoped variant and no IP allow-list.
Shopper ID (resellers only) not secret Only for GoDaddy reseller accounts acting on a customer's domains. GoDaddy Pro → Clients → the client's account, or the Customer number on their receipt. Leave blank to manage the domains owned by the key's own account.
The sharp edge in GoDaddy's API
Every provider API has one behaviour that catches integrations out. This is GoDaddy's, and DNSMentor's adapter is written around it — the sort of thing you would otherwise discover during a migration.

Can I manage GoDaddy DNS alongside my other providers?
Yes. DNSMentor connects GoDaddy through its API and shows its zones in the same estate view as every other provider you connect — 26 are supported in total. Your engineers work in one interface instead of switching between provider portals, and the same checks, approval policy and audit trail apply regardless of which provider a domain happens to be with.
What credentials does DNSMentor need for GoDaddy?

Does DNSMentor move my zones away from GoDaddy?
No. Your zones stay hosted at GoDaddy and remain authoritative there. DNSMentor reads and writes through the GoDaddy API, so nothing about your resolution path changes, and if you stop using DNSMentor the zones carry on exactly as they are.
Does DNSMentor validate GoDaddy changes before applying them?
Yes. All 56 checks run against the zone as it would exist after the change, whichever provider hosts it. The change is then simulated, routed for approval if policy requires it, written through the GoDaddy API after re-reading live state, and independently verified in public DNS afterwards.
