How do I undo a DNS change in DNSMentor?
Open the change in Change history and press Roll back. DNSMentor composes the inverse from the record of what changed, puts it through the same checks and approval policy, and applies it. The important caveat is caching: a rollback publishes immediately but resolvers hold the previous answer for the length of its TTL.
# Rollback is a change like any other
It is checked, approved if policy requires it, applied and verified. That is deliberate — an unchecked emergency rollback is how one outage becomes two.
# The caching problem
Publishing the old value does not un-cache the new one. Resolvers that already answered with the wrong record keep doing so until its TTL expires. If the record had a TTL of 3600, expect an hour of mixed answers.
This is why DNSMentor warns you to lower TTLs before a planned migration. A TTL of 300 set a day in advance turns a bad afternoon into a five-minute one.
