Understanding check results
What do the errors and warnings on my change mean?
Errors block the apply and cannot be overridden — they are changes that are wrong under the DNS RFCs. Warnings must be read and accepted by name, and your acceptance is recorded. Notes are informational. Every finding names the rule that raised it, explains why the rule exists, and links to the reference article.
# Why a check fires on a record that looks fine
Checks run against the zone as it would exist after your change, not against the record you typed. That is the whole point. A second SPF record is a perfectly valid TXT record — what makes it fatal is the one already in the zone, and a validator that only looked at your input would pass it.
# The three severities
- Error — blocks apply. No skill level, role or setting overrides it.
- Warning — must be acknowledged by name before apply, and the acknowledgement is written to the audit trail against you.
- Note — recorded on the change and in the write-up, does not interrupt.
# If you think a check is wrong
Raise a ticket from Support inside the platform and include the change reference. Rules do occasionally need refining for a legitimate edge case, and the rule catalogue is public so the discussion can be specific.
